To the Pyles Camp Community and our Friends,
At the R.M. Pyles Boys Camp, our mission has been unwavering since 1949: Daring Boys to Become Men. For over seven decades, we have been committed to fostering long-term positive behavioral change in low-income, disadvantaged boys through an immersive multi-year wilderness camp experience. We believe in building character, instilling values of hard work and education, and empowering these young individuals to make positive life choices. Our camp, nestled amidst the picturesque landscapes of Southern California, has seen more than 30,000 boys embark on journeys of self-discovery and growth. Every year, we handpick over 450 boys from Southern California counties to participate in our transformative first-year sessions. It's important to note that the R.M. Pyles Boys Camp is not a program for juvenile delinquents; rather, it's a haven for nurturing skills, self-confidence, and resilience. We are proud to offer a comprehensive program that includes a unique wilderness camp experience, winter follow-up sessions, second-year summer camps, leadership development, and college scholarship opportunities. Our emphasis on building self-confidence, setting goals, and teaching the value of personal effort has yielded incredible results in the lives of these boys. However, disaster struck when a disastrous amount of snowfall caused the collapse of our cherished Mess Hall. This communal space has been the heart of our camp, where friendships are formed, memories are created, and lifelong lessons are learned. The loss is deeply felt, and we are reaching out to our community for support in rebuilding this integral structure.
